Lifelike All-Porcelain Crowns in Richton MS
If you have one or more damaged teeth, you know how much of a nuisance this can be.
Healthy teeth are necessary for eating comfortably and smiling with confidence. We want you to be able to enjoy all your favorite foods and laugh and smile without worry!
For this reason, we offer beautiful, natural-looking all-porcelain crowns to our patients.
Modern All-Porcelain Crowns
Crowns, also frequently referred to as “caps,” are tooth-shaped shells that fit over the entire tooth, all the way down to the gumline.
In the past, crowns have been made of a variety of materials, including gold and metal/ceramic combinations. While these materials are useful for restoring function to the damaged tooth, they didn’t look good and were easily noticeable.
The appearance of your smile is an important part of you and your personality. We don’t think that it should change or be diminished because your tooth happened to be damaged at some point!
At Richton Dental Care, we exclusively use all-porcelain crowns. These crowns blend in beautifully among your existing dentistry without the need to sacrifice durability and function. Truly, porcelain crowns are the best of both worlds!
Do You Need a Crown?
Crowns are a versatile restoration and can be used to correct a number of common issues. Some of the most common reasons Dr. Darby might recommend a crown include:
- A tooth is damaged or decayed beyond the point of a filling.
- A tooth has broken or is eroded.
- Damage to the tooth is affecting the alignment of your bite.
- A tooth has serious esthetic issues and we are correcting the appearance of your smile.
- You’ve had root canal therapy and the tooth needs to be protected.
- We are restoring a dental implant to replace a missing tooth.
How Are Crowns Made?
Getting a crown is not a complicated process. Each of our restorations is made in a U.S.-based dental lab we trust to create beautiful and accurate dentistry for our patients. You deserve the best and we are dedicated to making sure you get it!
Once you and Dr. Darby agree that a crown is the best treatment option, we will shape your tooth to prepare it for the crown and then take images and impressions of your teeth. These, plus Dr. Darby’s specific instructions, will be sent to the lab where they will craft your customized crown. In the meantime, we’ll place a temporary crown over the shaped tooth to protect it and keep it functional.
The lab will send back your permanent crown in a week or two, and at that point, we’ll call you back to our office. When you return, we’ll take off your temporary crown and make sure the permanent crown fits correctly among your other teeth and your bite. Once you and Dr. Darby are both happy, we’ll cement it to the prepared tooth. At this point, you’ll be all set! When you leave our office, you will be able to chew and smile comfortably and with confidence!
You care for the crowned tooth just like you would the rest of your teeth. When you return to our office for your check-ups and cleanings, we’ll check the condition of your crown. With proper care and good habits, a porcelain crown can last for decades!
